Democrats and Selective Amnesia
The Democratic Party has shown it has selective amnesia when it comes to crimes and stupid statements made by it’s party members in congress. The statements that have come to light that Harry Reid made about Obama illustrate the amnesia. Back in 2002 a Illinois state senator by the name of Barack Obama made these comments about Trent Lott.
“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.
He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”
If the statements by Reid were a single Democratic blunder one wouldn’t see the pattern that is apparent. Democratic congressman William Jefferson had $90,000 in his freezer and was arrested on bribery charges. What was the reaction of the Democratic leadership of the house? They wanted to give him the chairmanship of the Ways and Means committee. He was later convicted on the charges.
There are many other instances of the Democrats giving passes to it’s party members in government. The most egregious being Teddy Kennedy and his callous, illegal actions in the drowning of Mary Jo Kopechne. He was called a leader of his party and lauded without end after his death. He was guilty of reckless homicide at the very least and the fact she was pregnant makes one wonder if it was not premeditated murder.
The Republicans get rid of their trash, the Democrats promote it.
