The REAL Reason for the Second Amendment

Jim/Good Ole Boy

Many people and most all of Democrats are ignorant of the most important reason for the Second Amendment by the Founding Fathers.
It was not hunting or self-protection, it was protection from a tyrannical government.

Gun prohibitionists want to illegalize firearms unless they have a “sporting purpose.” The “sporting purpose” idea was part of the Nazi Weapons Law of 1938

Patrick Henry, in the Virginia ratification convention June 5, 1788, argued for the dual rights to arms and resistance to oppression: “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.”

James Monroe “No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

George Washington  “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence.”

The Federalist Papers, No. 28: Alexander Hamilton expressed that when a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming tyrannical, the people have no choice but to exercise their original right of self-defense — to fight the government.

The Federalist Papers, No. 29: Alexander Hamilton explained that an armed citizenry was the best and only real defense against a standing army becoming large and oppressive.

There are many more instances of the Founding Fathers speaking of the need for an armed citizenry being the only barrier to tyranny. The so-called assault weapons are not an equal to what the military has but are better than the black powder muskets Democrats would limit us to if they could.

What is it that the Democrats and Obama do not understand about the word infringe?

Samuel Adams, Massachusetts` U.S. Constitution ratification convention 1788, “The said Constitution [shall] be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.”

For all the union members who “vote their pocketbook” and along with those who live off the taxpayers and vote for these Democrats–  “If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”  Samuel Adams, of Massachusetts. And for those who have read this and still think these guns that may be a large part of our threat against those who would take away our freedom need to be banned for safety’s sake.

Benjamin Franklin “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” — reply of the Pennsylvania Assembly to the governor, November 11, 1755

The Green movement may be missing a source of limitless energy, the Founders spinning in their graves if they know of what our country has become.
